Tharp custom cabinets can be constructed from one of eleven woods that are stocked in the company facility. All of our woods are sourced from select suppliers and from specific growing regions throughout the world. Consistent color and grain pattern for your entire order is ensured by stocking “same batch” stock and all our woods are kiln dried and stored in moisture controlled environments to provide the best end product.
Red Oak
Red Oak is a hardwood chosen primarily for its prominent, open grain pattern. Some color variation from reddish tan to medium brown.
Alder
Alder affords a uniform grain pattern similar to cherry. Color varies slightly from reddish brown to light tan or honey.
Hickory
A super dense hardwood with lots of grain movement. Colors and patterns vary significantly from white to a beige, with dark brown streaks.
Knotty Hickory
Knotty Hickory varies widely in color from white sapwood to dark brown heartwood. A “rugged-rustic” appearance.
Premier Maple
Maple is a light wood with closed, subdued grain and a uniform texture. Maple is a popular choice for painted finishes or a contemporary look.
Quarter Sawn White Oak
This special milling method yields dramatic flecking and straight grain pattern. Excellent climate stability.
Walnut
Walnut has a beautiful, straight, open grain pattern which ranges from a deep rich chocolate brown to purplish black colors.
Cherry
Cherry has a rich color and flowing grain pattern. Colors vary from light to dark reddish brown. Cherry is light-sensitive and darkens significantly with age.
Knotty Cherry
Knotty Cherry offers a sophisticated look with a rustic touch. Colors vary from light to dark reddish brown with tight knots. Knotty Cherry is light sensitive and darkens significantly with age.
Knotty Alder
Knotty Alder has uniform grain pattern with knots varying in size. Color varies slightly from reddish brown to light tan or honey and darkens around natural knots.
